In addition to ‘looking back’ to the best of 2009 – and the past decade – we shouldn’t forget to ‘listen back’ for the best of music.   A good place to start is the The Speakeasy Blog’s list of lists of best and worst music of ’09.  E.g., Speakeasy points to the list from NPR’s All Songs Considered – which (not too surprisingly) includes music from Neko Case, Andrew Bird, Bon Iver, The Decemberists and Wilco in its top 25.  If you want to really dive down in to an encyclopedic list of music lists, check out Largehearted Boy which has a compendium of 100′s of links for best ofs for every taste and genre, including everything from best music, best rock, jazz, folk, hip-hop, etc, to the more specific, such as a list of the most requested songs at Minnesota weddings.
