Elevating
It’s different when you watch a Burke sporting event when your son or daughter isn’t on the team. No less gut wrenching mind you. But easier to see the players for who they are. On the court, on the mat, their faces radiate not just from exertion; they reflect an athlete’s determination, frustration, and exhilaration that can change instantly with each step. In those frozen moments of any game or match, when a player’s focus seems to will time to slow, you can see the player, as they say in sports, “in transition” from who she is to who she is becoming. Or in this case, rising to take her shot, and elevating.
