Well in the month of June, Source hosts THE SOURCE FESTIVAL, which features 3 weeks of brand spankin new theatre.
Week 1 (which has passed) featured 18 new 10-minute plays
Week 2 (June 22-26) features THE CHEMISTRY OF ART: Four Unprecedented Collaborations. Twelve diverse artists — playwrights, filmmakers, choreographers, musicians and visual artists — were set up on Artistic Blind Dates. After three months of collaboration, these teams stage their remarkable collaborations and invite you to look in on the creative process. Watch innovation in action: Death of a Salesman deconstructed or an urban legend uncovered.
Week 3 (June 27th-July 3rd) SYNTHESIS: Three New Full-Length Play Productions. DC’s best and brightest directors and designers breathe life into three new full-length plays. Produced by a team of artists leading the next wave in American theatre, these plays explore who really owns hip-hop, whether a toothpick sculpture can fix a broken world and what happens when an astronaut takes your drink order.
So if you’re looking for something to do on any given night between now and July 3rd – head over to the Source Theatre on 14th NW between T and S. (green line – U st) for some groundbreaking new theatre.
