Burke: The Edmund Burke School. A place where students, teachers, staff and parents explore what it means to: learn, teach; be an individual, be a community; work hard, have fun; be, grow.
Word: The building block of language, communication and community. Also used colloquially, as in “Word to Your Mother,” which itself was a twist on the phrase “Word to The Mother” – used by African-Americans in approximately the 1980′s as a reference of respect to their African motherland. Later abbreviated to “Word.” and used more generally to signify agreement, affirmation.
Burke. Word: A place for Burke staff, students, alumni, and parents to talk about stuff and virtually bring to life the creativity, kinship, humor, intellectual curiosity and vitality of the Edmund Burke Community.
